Language

A word of warning to those who are sensitive about those things.  reasons to be pretty contains adult language.  There are plenty of F-Bombs, the C-Word comes up at least once and there are more.  If these bother you, it is better to stay away.

But none of these words are gratuitous.  They are part of the story.  This story could not be told without these words.  This is how these people talk.  It is part of their lives.

The playwright, Neil LaButte, is famous for helping his characters find a true voice.  reasons to be pretty is no exception.

In my day job I cannot swear.  I would be fired.  However, cut me off in traffic, and I too might let a F-Bomb slip.  All language fills a purpose.  It defines who we are and sets our place in society.  reasons to be pretty is no different.

If you have heard colorful language before and did not cringe simply because of the words, please come and enjoy reasons to be pretty.  It is a show like no other, and, once again, BLT has created better live theater for its audience to enjoy.

BLT needs an amplifier

BLT ‘s fans and supporters have come through countless times to help BLT find odd things needed for shows, props and set pieces.  BLT’s fans have found the impossible.

Most recently, for “reasons to be pretty,” BLT’s fans helped BLT find trophies, vending machines, and lockers.  Wow.

BLT has a new need.  BLT recently bought a set of new JBL speakers, with the help of 4Culture.  These are great and BLT’s sound quality has greatly improved.  However, it has become clear that BLT needs a separate amplifier to run the new JBL sub-woofer.  BLT is looking for 300 to 500 watt amplifier to run the sub-woofer.

If you have an unused or underused 300 to 500 watt amplifier sitting around, please give BLT a call.  BLT can use a bigger or smaller amplifier, but 300 to 500 watts is perfect range.

Whether you can help BLT find an amplifier or not, don’t miss “reasons to be pretty” opening April 20, 2012.

Reasons to save on tickets to “reasons to be pretty.”

There are a lot of ways to save on tickets to see “reasons to be pretty.”  Here are just a few.

Tickets are $20 general admission and $17 for students and seniors.  BLT has not raised its prices in years, so these prices by themselves are a sweet deal.  But there is more.  There is an automatic savings if you buy online for the first two weekends.

On opening night April 20 only, if you walk up to the box office and tell the person inside the ticket booth “I’m pretty,” you save $5 off your ticket price!  This savings only applies to tickets bought in-person at the box office.  But there is more!

Saturday, April 21 is “date night” where tickets are 2-for-1.  To buy online use the code “Date-g” for general admission 2-for-1 tickets and the code “Date-s” for student or senior  2-for-1 tickets. Or buy 2-for-1 tickets at the box office.  But wait there is more!

Sunday, April 22 is “$7-Sunday,” where all tickets are just $7.  This has been a smash hit for years and it is back again!  But don’t give up there are even more ways to save!

On Mother’s Day, May 13 get $5 off the tickets for everyone in your party, if one of the party is female.  This deal only applies to tickets purchased at the box office.  But BLT is not done yet.

Bring a “reasons to be pretty” postcard with you to the box office and get $2 off the price of tickets for everyone in your group.  Or use the code “Post-g” to get $2 off general tickets online, or the code “Post-s” for $2 off student or senior tickets.  Either way, the savings never end!

For one of the tastiest deals try Dinner and Show at the Mark Restaurant and Bar.  You get a two course meal and a ticket to see “reasons to be pretty” that night all for just $35.  Contact the Mark Restaurant and Bar for reservations at 206-241-6275.

(None of these deals can be combined in any way and all deals exclude Dinner and Show, Group, season ticket and all other deals and discounts.)
